For about two weeks now there has been rumors floating around regarding a Nintendo summit that was going to be held somewhere in October. Well seems these rumors have been proven true, Nintendo will be hosting a 2 days event in Japan. This summit will land smack dab in between E for All and Tokyo Game Show, what happened at last years summit well Nintendo announced that Super Smash Bros. Brawl was delayed, but they did announced Sonic as a active character in the game. So what will happen this year? Your guess is as good as mine. Iwata was greatly displeased about E3 I think, so he would have been cracking the whip all this time to make something presentable for this summit.
But it seems that the “core” gamers have already started speculating on what’s going to happen at this media summit and like E3 they are setting themselves up for a disappointment, when the title they were wishing for does not get shown or discussed. Which will be followed by the: “Oh no Nintendo has abandoned us” and the accompanying “internet fallout”. So I decided to do my very own speculation regarding this upcoming summit that Nintendo is hosting. The following is just speculation and not factual at all, and is just my attempt at trying to predict what Nintendo’s next move is going to be.
The following list will be divided into 4 categories which is as follows: Likely, Less likely but still possible, Not likely and Inconceivable. And like I said before this is in no way factual as I can’t be held accountable for any post traumatic stress syndrome which may happen after the media summit on the 2nd of October. So let us start.
Likely:
- Disaster: Day Of Crisis
- GTA for the DS
- Wiimotion Plus
- Nintendo becomes the exclusive publisher for The Conduit.
- Wiimusic
- WiiSpeak
- Wii Sports Resort
Less likely but still possible:
- Nintendo Wii storage solution see: Nintendo provides hardrive enabled Wii’s for hospital
- Localization of Fatal Frame IV and Fire Emblem DS
- Assure “hardcore” gamers that they have not been forgotten
Not likely:
- Firmware upgrade to enable bigger SD card support and other features
- New DS model
- New Zelda, Pikmin or Kid Icarus
Inconceivable:
- Wii price drop for the holiday season
- Wii using the billions it made to buy Sony (LOL!)
- Announcing there next console.
Now let us wait and see how accurate my predictions are going to be when Nintendo’s media Summit ends, I could either hit the nail on the head or miss and kamikazes like a Japanese World War 2 pilot. Or go into a manic depressive state and commit suicide because Nintendo “abandoned” me.
