Ark is a short movie directed by Grzegorz Jonkajtys, and produced by Marcin Kobylecki. Grzegorz visually style was inspired by the catacombs he saw in Italy. The entire movie was produced at Platige Image Studios and co-produced by Jarek Sawko and Piotr Sikora.
The CG movie was created using an unconventional means of mixing real life photography and CG animation. Pictures where taken of life like models, created and designed by Marcin Kobylecki using a Nikon D70S. Then these where enhanced and brought to live using various 3D animation tools.
After making a few rounds at the festival circuit in 2007 where it received a nomination for the Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) at the Cannes Film Festival and won the “Best of Show” prize at Siggraph Computer Animation Festival, it has finally become available online for download.
This was a very interesting CG short movie at first I thought this was just a showcase to showoff there animation skills, but after watching it for a second time it made me get the subtleties I missed the first time around. This changed my mind complete about this short movie.
The complete version is online but due to the amount of traffic and hits the site is currently receiving the official website is really slow. So out of the kindness of my heart I have provided you guys with alternative methods of watching this short movie. The total running time is only 8 minutes, but it is worth the download.
